It's all about perspectives

Civilization is SUCH a big concept. It doesn't really apply to everything and it definitely does not apply in the same way so it's basically impossible to define it. Yes I know I'm pretty much stating the obvious, there are tons of books about this subject but these are things one only realizes when actually in the real situations.

Take Uganda for instance, beautiful country where I have had the opportunity and the luck to spend some time working. I happened to do some follow up visits in the most remote villages of the country and I visited homes and households which I had honestly seen only on TV or pictures.

Yep, that's exactly when it hits you.
People live there.
They sleep there, wake up there in the morning, eat, shower, do whatever people do in a house. If you compare it to a European standard it will most definitely be not considered a home and yet to them it is and they clean it and take care of it exactly like I would sweep the floor or take out the trash at night.

crazy uh? I guess the same concept applies to politics, their politics. I find myself thinking most of the times: this system does not work, how can they NOT see that? Well they can't see it because the problem does not exist to them. The system works perfectly. Why change it, improve it, develop it?

Well, I had not thought of that...
